Leaflet

According to the decisions made during the first project meeting of the partner schools coordinators and supervising  teachers in October 2015, the first leaflet was designed and it will be printed and given to the parents of the partner schools' students. The main objective of the leaflet is to propagate healthy lifestyle and the environment  protection.

The leaflet is advertising our project's  objectives and it includes following ideas:
A healthy lifestyle helps you to keep and improve your health and well-being.

1.Exercising daily brings  increase of life span, lowers the risk of diseases, higher bone density and weight loss.
2. Fruit and vegetables are important for well-being and our health. Experts suggest that we should have 5-9 servings of fruits/vegetables of different colors as they contain anti-oxidants and they are good for health because they remove free radicals in our body that damage our cells. They also have a lot of vitamins and minerals needed for our body and mind! Eat small meals! Eat when you feel hungry, and stop when you’re full! Say NO fat and sugary food! Prepare your meals.
3.Reduce stress by getting enough sleep, meditation, which quietness your mind and calms your soul! Love yourself and  get rid of the negative thoughts you hear. Breathe  deeply! Do not smoke cigarettes!
4. Cut out soda and caffeine and  go for plain water or fresh fruit juice instead! Do not drink alcohol- it impacts the proper functioning of our brain, liver, lungs, and other major organs, bring a water bottle when you go out!
How can you  protect the environment?

                                   You mustn’t burn the rubbish!
1.      Use compact fluorescent light bulbs: It is true that these bulbs are more expensive, but they last much longer and they can save energy and in the long term your electricity bill would be reduced.
2.      Donate:
You have tons of clothes or things you want to get rid of. If they are still usable, give them to someone who needs them. You may also choose to give them to associations. These associations may sell them and collect a little money. Not only will you protect the environment, but you will also contribute to a good cause.
3.      Turn off your devices:
When you do not use a house device, turn it off. For example, if you don't watch TV, turn it off. Turn off the light when you leave a room (even if you intend to return.) It's an easy habit to take up which will help you save a lot of money.
4.      Walk or cycle:
Driving is one of the biggest causes of pollution. If you want to use your car, ask yourself the following question: do I really need my car? Walk or use your bike if the journey is a short one.

5.      Detergent:
Follow the recommended dose of detergent to wash your clothes or dishes.
6.      Leaky faucets:
Watch leaky faucets, which can cause a significant increase in the water bill. An average of 120 liters of water can be wasted due to a dripping faucet.
7.      Rainwater:
Think of recovering rainwater. This water can be used for different purposes.

  Juszczyna 19.11.201
According to the project:”Live Healthily in a Healthy  Environment”
Workshop done during the short-term exchange of groups of pupils from Polish, German, Dutch and Turkish schools in Gimnazjum z Oddziałami Dwujęzycznymi in Juszczyna.
What can you do to change your bad habits and help to protect the environment in your region?”
There are many simple things you can do to help save planet Earth!
With the support of your friends and family, team together and use the list below to create your own team of Earth Heroes!
                                                Your Mission:
1.       Ask Your Parents To Help You Plant A Tree. Trees and plants help to absorb the carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere.
2.       Ask Your Family To Start Driving Your Car Less. There are many ways to get around that don’t involve driving! Walk, ride your bike or take the bus to where you need to go! Carpooling is also a great way to get around and gives you extra time to spend with your friends and family!
3.       Tell Your Family about www.epost.ca. This saves trees by having your family’s bills emailed to you instead of coming in the mail on paper! Let’s keep as many trees as possible standing to soak up the carbon dioxide!
                       #2 – Save Earth’s Natural Resources!
The Problem: As our human population grows, so do our demands on the Earth to help us live with light, water, heat and food! The Earth can only reproduce these things so fast and if we don’t work hard together we could run out!
                                                  Your Mission:
1.       Ask Your Family To Use Less Heat and Air Conditioning. Heating our homes in the winter and cooling them off in the summer takes a lot of energy, which is very hard on planet Earth. Dress for the weather! Instead of turning on the fireplace, put on a sweater or use a blanket to keep warm!
2.       Save Electricity. To help save the environment there are many easy ways to use less electricity. The simplest thing is to remember to turn the lights off when you leave a room! Also, unplugging the toaster or any other small machine after you use it saves a lot of energy through the day. Even if you’re not using it, leaving something plugged in takes up energy from the Earth!
3.       Save Water. Something as simple as turning off the water while brushing your teeth makes a HUGE difference for Planet Earth. Doing this one thing helps you save up to 25 gallons of water each month! You can also shorten your shower by a minute to save up to 150 gallons of water a month! By just doing those two things you are doing a huge part to save Earth! Another great way to save water is by turning off the running water while you lather your hands with soap and then turn it back on to rinse your hands. And make sure to tighten any taps that are dripping water!
                                 #3 – Stop Using Plastic!
The Problem: Plastic wraps, containers and water bottles are polluting our oceans and land and it’s causing harm to humans, animals and plants all around the world!
                                                 Your Mission:
1.       Get Re-usable Water Bottles For Yourself and Your Family. There are so many cool water bottles available that you can use over and over again to help reduce plastic pollution. This can be as simple as saving the plastic water bottle from your lunch yesterday, cleaning it and re-using it tomorrow! If you have to get rid of a plastic water bottle, remember to recycle it!
2.       Bring Re-usable Bags To The Grocery Store. Remind your parents to bring bags from home to the grocery store! You can buy cloth bags from the grocery store or re-use the plastic ones you have at home. Also, when buying fruits and vegetables be careful of using too much plastic – save where you can! Maybe that avocado doesn’t need to go in a plastic bag …
3.       Recycle Any Plastic Bottles and Bags You Have At Home. Do your part to keep plastic out of the oceans and off of the land by recycling all the plastic in your home!
4.       Bring Homemade Lunches To School. Instead of bringing plastic-wrapped “lunchables” to school, pack a healthy homemade lunch in a reusable Tupperware container. This keeps that plastic wrap & packaging out of the garbage cans!
                         #4 – Reduce, Re-Use & Recycle!
The Problem: The human population is growing so fast and so is the amount of things we use and throw away every day! The Earth can’t keep up with all of our garbage, so we have to start thinking of ways to reduce, re-use and recycle what we use.
                                             Your Mission:
1.       Ask Your Parents To Help You Create A Recycling Program At Home. Work together with your family to decide what items can be recycled, such as newspaper, cans, glass and plastic bottles. Ask your parents to look into the recycling rules in your city and keep as much out of your garbage cans as possible! As yourself before you recycle something – Can I Re-Use This?
2.       Recycle Old Batteries and Electronics. Have your parents help you find the place in your neighborhood to recycle your old batteries and electronics that you don’t need anymore (televisions, computers, etc). Do your part to keep these harmful products out of oceans and off of the land!
3.       Start A School Recycling Program. Talk to the teachers and principle at your school to organize a school recycling program that you can all participate in to save planet Earth!
4.       Start A Compost At Your House. Ask your parents to help you start a compost system in your backyard for all your fruits and vegetable peelings and scraps. Composting is very good for the land because it is full of nutrients! You can also use the compost to fertilize your own garden!
                             #5 – Respect Planet Earth!
The Problem: Planet Earth gives us everything we need to live a happy, healthy life … but sometimes we don’t know how to say thank you for everything Earth gives us. We need to do what we can to show planet Earth we are grateful for what we have!
                                               Your Mission:
1.       Spend Time In Nature. Instead of watching TV tonight or playing indoors … why not go outside and play? There are many great things that you can do outside like playing a sport, taking your dog for a walk, going to the beach or planning an outdoor game (Waterfight!) with the neighborhood kids. Not only will the Earth love you being outside but you’ll feel great playing out in the fresh air!
2.       Keep Your School and Neighborhood Free of Garbage. The more we keep our Earth clean the happier it will be. Do your part by making sure you don’t leave your garbage lying around … put it in the recycling or garbage where it belongs. If you want to do a huge thing for Planet Earth plan a garbage pick-up at your school and involve all your family and friends to clean up the area where you play!
Share your story about how you are helping planet Earth and become the Earth Hero of the Month!
Have you and your classmates put together a recycling plan? Do you grow your own food? Do you help clean up the garbage in your neighborhood? We want to hear from you!
Submit your name, age, and what you are doing to save Earth to hero@footprintseducation.org. Also include your picture if you want!
