A trip to Warsaw 18-19.07.2017
A group of 38 Polish students and 4 teachers went
to Warsaw in order to visit some places connected with the topics of our
Erasmus project.
During our educational trip we visited:
Copernicus Science Centre (Polish: Centrum Nauki Kopernik) is a science museum standing on the bank of the Vistula River in Warsaw, Poland. It contains over 450 interactive exhibits that enable visitors to single-handedly carry out experiments and discover the laws of science for themselves. The Centre is the largest institution of its type in Poland and one of the most advanced in Europe
There are a lot of exhibitions
and almost everything there is interactive. Most of it is for kids but really enjoyable
for adults too. We were very impressed with sections of optical and mechanical
physics.
The Heavens of Copernicus is a modern planetarium where you can see more than just images of the starry sky and related films. The shows concern a variety of popular science issues, including from the field of astronomy, natural science and ethnography. The shows are displayed on a spherical screen surrounding the audience on all sides. Thanks to this solution, the audience experiences a feeling of immersion in the displayed world, which is strengthened by the high quality sound system deployed around the dome.

We went to the National Stadium-the "PGE Narodowy" Stadium in Warsaw and visited the Viewing Point
(part of upper stand) there.

After tour of the
National Stadium we were resting on the River Wisła bank
We also saw the rooftop gardens of the University of Warsaw Library
The Biblioteka Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego (BUW) or the
Warsaw University Library building was opened in December of 1999 and the
Library garden in June, 2002. One of the largest and most beautiful roof
gardens in Europe, the Biblioteka Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego (BUW) or the
Warsaw University Library encompasses two garden areas - an upper area of 2,000
m2, and a lower area of 15,000 m2 - linked by a fountain of cascading water.
The roof garden setting offers sweeping views of Warsaw, the Vistula river and the
Świętokrzyski Bridge.
The roof garden of the Library of the University of Warsaw is an experimental project. It is the first and largest roof garden established in Poland of its kind. It offers exceptional views to the Vistula River, fragments of the natural declivity, and the buildings situated downhill. The variety of the scenes created and beauty of the panorama remain the greatest values of this place.

We were
strolling in the University gardens as well
On
the second day of our stay in Warsaw we went of the tour of The Łazienki Park , which is a
landscape park and it used to be was a
popular among the Polish high nobility in the 18th century. The park constantly alternates between
different times, countries and continents, between forest-like areas and
elaborate flower arrangements.

The Lazienki Park is also a sanctuary for peacocks
strutting around the Palace and the Theatre. The park is also known for its
population of tame squirrels, who will be happy to receive a few nuts from the
visitors. Next to the Lazienki Park we found the Warsaw University Botanical Garden and it was really an
exciting experience for all of us because
we could observe different species of flowers and trees from all the
world growing there.

We
could admire the gorgeous panorama of Warsaw from a large terrace on the 30th floor of the Palace of Culture and Science (Pałac Kultury i Nauki). The Palace
of Culture and Science is the highest building in Poland. It has over 3,000
rooms.
At night we stayed in a hotel, which is
situated next to Kampinos Forest (Polish:
Puszcza Kampinoska) is a large forest complex located in Masovian Voivodeship, west of Warsaw
in Poland.
It covers a part of the ancient valley of the Vistula
basin, between the Vistula and the Bzura
rivers. Once a forest covering 670 km² of central Poland, it currently
covers roughly 240 km². Among the distinctive features of the area is a combination of sandy dunes and marshes, with dense pine and spruce
forest. The forest is a Natura 2000
EU Special Protection Area.
